August 19th....
It was one year ago today that my beautiful mom died after a very short battle with brain cancer.
This day changed the rest of my life.
I miss her more than any words could ever fully express.
I do not want to focus on her death because she would not want that.
Every day I focus on the life she lived...
and the life I have left to live.
My mom was such an incredible person.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was an artist, a poet, a reader, a student, a traveler, a french speaker, a painter, a hostess, a cook.
She was funny and interesting, and was always such a pleasure to be around.
She taught me so many things but most of all she taught me how to enjoy life.
How to live and take in every moment.
I am going to keep this short, but I wanted to say Thank You to everyone who might read this, for your encouragement and positive comments and the hope you have given me over the past year.
It means so much to me!
And to my mom~ I miss you so very very much. I keep you in my heart and part of my life every single minute of every single day.
I live my life for me and for you ~ I try so hard not to take things for granted.
Life is precious.
I love you with all of my heart mom.
I am so very proud to be your daughter~
I know I have posted this quote before, but I want to share it again because it is simply amazing.
"It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth - and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had."
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

No doubt in mind that your Mom is proud of you everyday. That she sees herself in you everyday. You are a beautiful testament of her footprint on Earth.
ReplyDeleteWish I was there to give you a hug, share a bottle of wine and look through the many memories you have of her and smile.

Thinking of you today and praying for your peace and comfort on this difficult day. You both are so incredibly beautiful and I know she's so proud of you! You've taught me the hope and happiness in seeing dragonflies and I think of you and your mom every single time I see one. :) I'm blessed to have "met" you and I can't wait for the day I can give you a great big hug in real life. You are such a dear friend and a treasure to know. Big hugs to you, sweet friend. Love you so much! xoxo

I've been thinking about you Tiffany. I went to the post office the other day and happened to look up at a tree and saw 2 dragonflies sitting on a branch by each other. I snapped tons of pics from my phone (kinda blurry though). I stood there for about 5 min just taking everything in. Love ya girlie. You know if you need anything to let me know!! Hugs from afar

How beautiful you mother is. I am thinking of you today as you remember her especially and probably miss her more today than ever.
ReplyDeleteI think your mom's example is a great one. This is a beautiful tribute and hope you can make the memories steps of courage in the end.
ReplyDeleteWhen you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Love you so much tiffers!
Sending hugs and prayers your way!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet post! One of my dear friends has lived through a very similar situation this year. Almost to the day. I'll think of you often throughout the day -- sending lots of love your way! Your mom was a very lucky lady to have such a beautiful daughter. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your pain and I know it well. I lost my Father to cancer three years ago this past July 9th. It was my birthday but as I sat with him that last hour I realized it was a joyous day for he was set free of his pain. Thats was a tough year for the family because each month that passed from April to July we lost a family member, one was my old Hound Dog Hero the other two an Aunt and an Uncle. All had wonderful lives and left behind happy memories.
ReplyDeleteWhen I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me - but let me go.
Such beautiful words and beautiful pictures, sending you love and hugs xoxo
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and your family today! Your mom would be so proud how you are letting her touch all of our lives. You are an amazing gal! -Katie

Oh Tiffany, I can't even imagine how difficult this day must be for you. But what truly heartfelt and inspiring words you have left for us to read about your mother. I want you to know that I think you are an absolute beautiful person, and that the loss of your mother is apart of who you are today. Thank you so much for sharing. I greatly appreciate it. And I wish you comfort and peace and joy all the days of your life.
ReplyDeleteYou have shown me so much love and compassion, that I hope I can now share it with you. Thinking of you, sending you hugs, and nodding with your quote. You can honor her by living life to the fullest because that's what she would want you to do?
ReplyDeleteIt's been great getting to "know" you over the past few months through your blog....love the pix of your mom and family. Your Mom sounds like a wonderful person! I pray that you will feel the love of the Lord today!
ReplyDeleteThe first year for me was tough, the second was worse. The third just passed and I've still not changed the calendar in Dads garage. It's still on March of 06. My heart aches for you because I'm older than you and I imagine your somewhere around my own daughters age. I wonder what her world would be without me to call when something exciting happens in her world or she needs advice or an understanding shoulder. We always took long rides together when something bothered her and along the way it would come out. Now she has her own little man to lead on his way through life.
ReplyDeleteBy the way... Im a friend of a friend. I just stumbled across your blog and noticed you were friends with Nicole Z. When I seen the header I had to read on.
Im certain your Mother is proud of you and has never left your heart.
xoxo, sweet girl. I can't think of anything else to add to this thread of lovely comments. Thanks for your honesty.
ReplyDeletei just finished the book you sent....
ReplyDeletevery moving.
a very good lesson to learn through this difficult journey.
thank you for sharing your story and your book.
hugs~
