Creative people....help!

I need some ideas! My beautiful mom spent weeks every year canning fruit, making jams and apple sauce and giving them generously to her family and friends~ I have some left that I cannot bring myself to eat because I do not want it to ever be the very last jar....It would break my heart~

But for now I do have some empty jars and I would really love to do something creative with them. Decorate something, give them as gifts full of something besides canned goods because I am sure I would not be any good at that~
I would LOVE some ideas please!! I need help to re-invent the jars, and be able to enjoy them or give them with love as my beautiful mom always did~

The beauty of words.....

I started reading Olive Kitteridge yesterday for my book group~ I am through about 30 pages and love it so far.
This morning I started on Chapter two simply called "Incoming Tide"
I thought I would share the first few lines and the beautiful way it is written...
Incoming Tide (Elizabeth Strout.)
"The bay had small whitecaps and the tide was coming in, so the smaller rocks could be heard moving as the water shifted them. Also there was the twanging sound of the cables hitting the masts of the sailboats moored. A few seagulls gave squawking cries as they dove down to pick up the fish heads and tails and shining insides that the boy was tossing from the dock as he cleaned the mackerel."

Dear Sewing Machine....

"Dear Sewing Machine,
I know I bought you four years ago and have not used you more than once but it is time! Get ready! :)
~Tiffany"

I have always wanted to know how to sew. Along with knitting, sewing has always been on my list.
My mom was great at it. She was great at everything she tried. I took for granted so many things that I could have had her teach me and I regret it with my whole heart. But what I did learn from her is that taking classes is fun. It is inspiring, it is uplifting, it is a great place to meet people and to learn.
Last week I went to my first of 8 sewing classes at a Junior High, I am so excited to learn!! We are off this week, and wont actually be sewing for a few more weeks but once I chose a project and start it I will share!
