cards and paintings....

My mom was such an amazing artist~ Most recently she had truly mastered watercolor...She would take her paintings and have cards printed before she had them framed. I was lucky enough to get 2 of her paintings not yet framed and had cards made from them before I took them in to the frame shop~ (The cards do not do the paintings justice). The paintings are simply beautiful, so full of details and just amazing...
Here are a few photos of the cards I had made~ They are so incredibly special to me!

The Shadow of The Wind....

Thanks to being on www.goodreads.com I had my mom sign up there too~ And now I have even more treasures. She reviewed about 6 books and it makes me happy to know that I know what she would recommend and what she thought of them...
This is one I am reading now~ I am only on chapter 4 but I love it so far.
Here is her review of this book quoted from her goodreads.
"This is my all time favorite book selection. I highly recommend it" ~Rena Traub
Have you read it? Let me know what you think if or when you do!

Poetry and stickies...

My mom loved poetry~
Here are two books of hers that I am lucky enough to cherish now~
How I love that she marked books with stickies and torn papers as now I know some of her favorites...

AFTERNOON ON A HILL by Edna St Vincent Millay
I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.

And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
And then start down!

The books are so beautiful...

Bon jour..

My mom was such an amazing woman! She was studying French~ I thought it was so awesome! She was in French Book clubs and she was taking classes and was part of French groups~ How cool is that!
I was at the bookstore about a month ago and ran across this cool French inspired book...LOVE IT! Thought I would share it...
It has so many inspirational design things etc...
Enjoy!

Time to learn to knit....

I suppose we all have lists of things we want to learn ~ Knitting has always been on my list, but I never made the time to learn. I also figured I would not be very good at it but you never know until you try, right...
A few months ago as my sister and I were going through a few or my moms things, we found a basket of knitting ~ I found a half finished sweater, a vest and a start of a stuffed animal~ it was at that moment that I thought it was time for me to learn to knit! Someone should finished these beautiful things, why not me!
So I am in the very beginning stages of knitting and so far have made 2 hats and 2 scarves. I love it! What a great healing tool as well~ It is very calming and I just love it.
Here are the few items that I have made so far.
Hat and project #1

Scarf and project #2

Scarf and project #3

Red hat and project #4 (Red hat requested by my friend Shellie)

I will be brave enough someday to try and complete my moms beautiful projects, but I have a lot of learning to do!

Reading....

My mom was an avid reader~ For the past 12 or so years she would share books with me. I began to love to read, but still did not set enough time aside to do it as much as I would have liked~ I have been reading much more lately~
Some of the first books she shared with me were amazing...I cannot wait to re-read them.
~The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo (I just read this one again, very quick read)
~Beachcombing for a Shipwrecked God by Joe Coomer
~Refuge by Terry Tempest Williams
These are the first that come to my mind.
What are your favorite books?
I know I will be posting and sharing a lot about books~
If you are on goodreads website please friend me there :)

My Beautiful Mom~

I have been postponing this for so long now~ But I am really looking forward to starting this blog and sharing things here~ I just could not find the right words or place to start~
This past summer we found out that my beautiful mom had 2 glioblastoma brain tumors ~ Malignant, cancerous, extremely aggressive tumors. That was July 2nd, she was checked into the hospital that day and never came home ~ Our life was turned upside down. She was my rock~ My favorite thing about life. It is devastating to know I have to live without her for the rest of my own life. She died on August 19th 2009, she was only 68 years old.
That is all I want to post about that part of her life because this is a place that I want to be positive, write about the amazing things about her and share things about her and myself and be creative ~ I just thought it was important to share that information so you would know why this is such a special place for me.
This is a place to share, hold myself accountable and remember to live~
My name is Tiffany ~
I am Rena's daughter...
