What helps?

I thought I would share a few books with you that people have recommended to me...
I have only started to read the first one (Legacy of Loss), I am about 30 pages in, and it does help as much as something can~
I hope that this can help someone else when I share these things because I know I am not the only one who has lost ~
I hope to continue to read these this year.
The title was a hard one for me because I do not feel like I am Motherless, not in the least. My mom was and always will be a HUGE part of my life~ I think of her every minute of every day. I feel her hugs, her support and her love always!
I am glad I got past the title because I do think they are great~
Does anyone have any other recommendations to share?

  1. the only one i read that helped me was to own a dragon, growing up without a dad. and i honestly felt the same way you did about this book. i didn't exactly grow up without a dad, he died when i was 14, but before that he was the BEST dad i couldve ever asked for. but it did help- glad youre able to find books that help. :)
to find some for me i just spent an hour or so in the bookstore looking thru the self-help isle (yea im that girl). i got a bunch of titles, went home looked them up, and then bought them cheap if the review seemed good.

and hey- like i said, im always here to talk, just a "click" away.

--looks like you had an awesome trip- love the pics!!!

  4. The thing that helps me most is the Bible. When I need encouragement about my loved one who has passed, I go to a scripture like John, chapter 14. This is Jesus speaking, telling us we can have eternal life if we trust Him.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. In my Father's house are many rooms.....I am going there to prepare a place for you." John 14:1-2

I will see my sister again some day!

Your blog is a great inspiration! Thanks for sharing. I'm praying for you!

  5. tiff, motherless daughters was the first and only book i've read about losing one's mother and it helped me tremendously. i bought it 11 years ago in front of my remaining family, like a cry for help that went unanswered. the book has always been there for me. i'm so sorry it didn't occur to me to send it to you... i'm so glad that you've found it.

i understand your hesitation for the title. i didn't want to identify as motherless, either. then i realized that for me i'm only motherless in the physical sense, not the emotional or spiritual sense. i am always here for you and only a phone call away, too. rena will always be with you, always shining down her love.
